possible bug - duplicate bins

I’d like to report something that shouldn’t be allowed to happen. These examples are from our test database since the problem had to be manually corrected in our production environment to allow the job to run. The stockroom says this happened several times though.

Part 085-0038 has conflicting information. It is shown in bin B4-1B twice in the part record.

When doing a List by Bin report, the bin is only listed once. And The qty of 272 is gone., 600 is the total

Looking at the part history, on 7/17 it appears that aliciao created a bin split from and to the same bin, creating a dupe. I just tried to do this now and Cetec correctly blocked the action due to me specifying the same from and to bin.

Perhaps this was a temporary glitch that is now fixed? We wanted to bring it to your attention.

Hey Jim,

Thanks for sending this our way - this is definitely not something that the system should be allowing through it’s checks when splitting bins.

How frequent is this issue? Is your stock team running into this at a high rate? Once a week, once a month?

I also need explicit details here regarding ‘how’ they got this to push through the system checks.. what order of operations are they conducting with the bin move/bin split feature? The more detail here the better – also is it the same user that’s running into this problem of duplicate bins or are other stock room individuals also reporting this behavior?

Jim you’re correct, the system should absolutely not allow duplicate bins, and I’ve been testing through this to no avail on my end. Any additional insight here on how your stockroom people got this to push through successfully would be greatly appreciated.

Tyler was in touch with me directly about this.

After the incident I reported, our stockroom wasn’t able to find any more. They’re on the lookout for the next time it happens. They can’t really say what was done or why, but according to the History report, it seems to have been a bin move.

I will update Tyler as soon as we can find another instance.
