Work Start Date on adding a line

When I am adding a stock line to an existing order, it is making the work start date today’s date which is messing up my shipping department. It doesn’t let me enter work start date, so let me know what config setting I am missing that is creating this problem. I left one problem for you to see. 14221.1 line item 2

Thanks,
Kelly

Hey Kelly,

There is a config setting in your environment that defaults the work start date to the dock date for your stock orders. You currently have that turned off in your environment, so if you hover over the Work Start Date (info icon) in that field on your order edit page… you’ll see a hovertip indicating the WSD is the same as the Ship Date you have set on your stock orders.

I went into the order edit page and didn’t change anything here, all that was done was I clicked the ‘Submit’ button and you’ll see the Work Start Date showing 2024-12-7 was updated to the ‘Ship Date’ you have set (2025-02-20) - /order/TX14221.1/view

If you see the WSD that’s different than what you have for the ship date, all you need to do is go into the order edit page & hit the submit button to push that request into the system. I’d fully expect the work start date to mimic your ship dates in your environment though when you generate those new lines. Is this not the case?

Yes, I realized that I can go back in for a second time and press submit to fix it, but I shouldn’t have to do that. When adding a line to an existing order, it is setting the Work Start Date as today’s date and not the ship date.

Hey Kelly,

Apologies here for any confusion, and I do understand the system should be automatically setting the Work Start Date to the Ship Date (based on your config settings in place). I’ve worked through this on our end, and am working through a backup right now to see how the behavior in your environment.

Once I’ve completed testing here I’ll be in touch with the results, and the plan moving forward on those results.

You do have a workaround in the meantime (having to go into edit & click submit to update that WSD to the ship date you have set on the ordline). Albeit, not ideal, it should get you through those ordlines that you add until we get that resolved.

Thanks!

Great. Thanks. I have been using the work around, but had wanted to save one for you to see before I fixed it. Thanks for moving it to engineering. Merry Christmas!

@kellym

I’ve reproduced this behavior on our end and am generating a ticket for our engineering team to evaluate/review here.

I’ll be in touch with another update once they’ve sent this back my way with their input. I also appreciate you saving that example so I had a visual reference point that was definitely super helpful!

Merry Christmas to you as well Kelly!

@kellym

Apologies here I forgot to include this. You’re good to go ahead and correct that 2nd ordline on Order 14221.1 and handle that particular order as you see fit.

I’ve got the behavior reproduced on our end so no need to leave that example in place any further.

Thanks!

Hey Kelly,

Engineering has built out a hotfix for this particular issue - and I’ve just tested it out. I can confirm the hotfix has resolved the issue, and the work start date is now mimicking the ship date when you add new stock lines to an existing stock order.

That hotfix should merge into your environment in the next 7-10 days. Until then if you run into any issues regarding the WSD not reflecting correctly, that you use the workaround we’ve discussed.

Have a Merry Christmas!
