AP Payments in a foreign currency

Hello: I know when making an AP payment in a foreign currency, CETEC will apply the foreign currency rate in the data maintenance currency for currency rate page to the payment. The difference between what that rate is and what the original invoice was will be taken to foreign exchange gain or loss.

In some cases however the foreign exchange rate the payment is made is not going to be the same as the what is in the table. (sometimes the bank charges a different rate). Is there a way to adjust the payment rate to the actual being charged by the bank?

Thank you!

@ImperialController thank you for your question.. I forwarded this to our accounting team and this was their recommendation…

Hello Imperial Controller.

In the event that the foreign currency rate that the bank charges varies from that in the Currency Rate table for the AP Payment date, you may
Create Entry in ledger to record the calculated CAD (your default currency) delta as a debit/credit to credit card or bank account and a debit/credit to the
Foreign Currency Gain/Loss Account.

OR

You can find the AP Payment ledger entry and Add Split(s) to do the same.

An example of the ledger entry for AP Payment 5090 on 2025-12-02 is here Cetec ERP

Let us know if you need assistance in finding a specific ledger entry or have questions on adding splits.

Thank you.
