BOM Revision in Stock

Hi,

I am looking to determine if it is possible to create BOMs in CETEC that always point to the latest (or active) revisions of the components? If this is not possible, then alternatively I would imagine I would have to do a BOM usage report and update all of the BOMs associated with any new part that gets incremented manually to the newest revision. Is this the current best practice? I am only speaking of master records and not of BOMs associated with work order which I understand would capture the BOM revisions of the parts when the order was cut appropriately.

Thank you!
Paul

Hey Paul,

Thanks for reaching out to Cetec support regarding this question. I’ll coordinate internally to figure out how to have Cetec always point to the latest/active revision of the components. If this is something that isn’t possible I’ll also confirm if you’d have to do a BOM usage report and update all of the BOMs associated with any new part that gets incremented manually to the newest revision.

I’ll get this figured out and some answers for you and provide an update as quickly as I can on this. Thank you for your patience it’s greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Not sure if this is what you’re looking for, but we leave everything in the master BOM record to “unset.” That seems to always automatically point to the most current revision of any subassemblies within that BOM.

This is exactly what I am looking for, thank you! I will run some tests to make sure.

Do you know if there is a way to mark the component revisions as “unset” when uploading a csv file with a new BOM revision?

I have not tried that, so I apologize, I don’t know that one.

Closing the loop: With some internal testing, it looks like we were able to leave the rev column blank and have the component revision default to unset. I wasn’t able to fully define the descrepancy I was having in the previous post but this seems to work in our testing environment now.
