Can I make a G/L account inactive?

I have G/L accounts I don’t want showing up on reports, etc. How do I make them inactive?

Does this account have any money or mappings associated to it? The Delete button is not available on GL accounts that have active mappings or balances. There is a way to make the delete function available.

  1. create a manual ledger entry to DR another GL account and CR the GL account they want to delete for the amount of the balance…(I believe if there is -0- balance, but there is historical activity, upon Delete, CETEC will ask if they wish to move the historical activity to another GL account)
  2. You would still need to deal with any possible mappings to the GL account you want to delete, if set. If any mappings are set, you would need to direct to another GL account prior to deleting the unwanted GL account.

I don’t want to delete - I just want to make it inactive so that it doesn’t clog up down loads of Financials.

We might want to do the same things with Vendors and Customers.

I think the old owners uploaded stuff that isn’t relevant to Newco.
