We would like to change this to intercompany ASAP but it says there are open invoices is there a way to fix this while there are still open invoices?

Aside from creating a new customer and making it intercompany, you will have to close those open invoices to make that specific customer intercompany. If you did make a new customer record, you could then inactivate this company once invoices were closed.

Not in a way that you would not have open invoices preventing you from making the customer intercompany. We can merge customers (not recommended) but it will also merge open invoices.

Which invoices are open that will need to be closed?
We will close it and be able to change the intercompany and then Uninvoice it.
Also, why don’t you recommend merging customers?
