Cost disappearing

When creating a new quote and use the Add Line button (see below) the default cost displays correctly when setting the quantity.

However, when when adding more lines by not using the Add Line button, the default cost will display with one piece but when you change the quantity to be quoted/ordered, the cost is cleared out causing the user to re-enter the cost manually (see below). Why does this happen?

@spilkington
Thanks for reaching out about this.
Let us investigate what’s happening, and we’ll update you about it as soon as we can.

I look forward to the results of your investigation.

Hi @spilkington,

Our engineers looked at this and were able to determine what the problem is. When the page first loads there is no dock date on the quick add line, so the call to price engine doesn’t search for price break by date. When you update the quantity it’s trying to find a price rule that’s active for the promise date. When it doesn’t find one, it’s reverting to the last resort cost for the part, which is $0 for all the ones we looked at including those in your example.

There is a long term fix that will be part of the next Cetec release around mid-January, but in the meantime you should be able to workaround this by adding valid dates to your pricing rules at [your cetec url]/pricingrule/list

The end date can be something far in the future, the key here is just having the date for the system to reference when checking those pricing rules on the quick line add.

The other option would be to update the last resort cost for each part, but that would have to be done by editing each individual part record which may be time consuming.

Thank you for the information. I have added end dates to all the rules we have (out about 80 years - a future DBA problem :smile: ) and that seems to have helped until the long term fix is implemented.
