Force Part Numbering Scheme/Format

We use a few different PRCs mostly such as PRT and PCB. When creating the parts, I would want the system to force a - after the prc and before the part number, i.e. if creating a part 12345 with PRC ‘PRT’, the system should force it to become PRT-12345. For our two character PRCs it was easy because we just made the third character the - (i.e. PC-). Our issue is that our team is mistakenly making parts without the dash and that is making our part library formatting inconsistent.

Is there a way I can force this masking scheme to add a -?

I apologize for the delay on this. Unfortunately this isn’t possible. We don’t have a way to force this to add the dash every time you create a new part. If a part is entered incorrectly you can merge it into a new part record with the dash to fix this issue: How To Merge Parts
