We import excel csv files every day into sales quotes to be able to create Orders. Today we are unable to do this. Usually the import is immediate but today we are getting this message: Success: Data Import has been scheduled. You will be emailed when it is completed". We don’t receive an email and the data is not imported. Please can you investigate.
When I had a look in documents list it says there has been a back up done by Cetec ERP Support Team - Created on 2025-01-20 at 01:01:21pm (we are in Australia and at the time of writing this it is even not that time here yet). Not sure if this is related
Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention. There was an additional background task that engineering had to install on your server. It was related to the new release. You should be up and running now. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks for the speedy response. This seems to be working better this morning but it is still not an immediate import like it used to be. There’s a delay of approx 30 seconds until we receive an email to tell us the import is complete - however the email has no reference to either the Quote no. or the job no. that the email relates to so it is not helpful when we are trying to do big batches of these orders. Not only do we need the processing of these quotes/orders to be quicker, we don’t want our inboxes clogged up with these emails. Please can it be rectified so that the import/uploading of the data is immediate as it used to be . Thank you.
We now have our data imports run as background tasks to allow users to continue using the system while the import is being completed, especially when processing batches of imports. The email should contain a reference to the job number. Please show me an example if this is not the case, and I will be happy to continue looking into this for you.
Please see below what we receive via email - no reference to the job number.
Running in the background does not work for us - it is possible for us to be able to revert to how it has always been ie. the immediate import?
Thank you for bringing that to our attention. I am coordinating with engineering to add the job number reference to the confirmation email. Our engineering team is evaluating options for small import jobs, but at this time, there is no way to revert to immediate import processing.
This is frustrating - we have been using CETEC t for 5 years now and do on average 30 or so small imports per day. Our client sends their orders to us via FTP site 4 times per day, these come in as csv files and we upload each one into Cetec individually. This change will now slow down our quote/order process so if a way to revert to being an instant upload can be investigated we would appreciate it. In the meanwhile, if the Quote number could also be added to the email that would be helpful - otherwise we have to write down the job numbers to know which quote they relate to.
we usually import with the text box import. After we submit the import, do we need to wait for the new line to be added to the quote before adding additional lines manually (i.e. not via import)? Or will it overwrite any lines added manually? I’m seeing several minutes until it finishes the import, and would like to keep working on the quote.
rearrnaging the order of the quote lines by dragging the lines up/down in the table seems to have stopped working. I can drag them up and down, but the # column does not change and if you refresh or go to pdf, it reverts back.
Additionally, Engineering is implementing a path for smaller imports to not be backgrounded. This will hopefully be deployed to your environment in the coming weeks. We anticipate this will clear up much of your concerns. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
Thank you for your questions/concerns. You do not need for the new line to be added to the quote before adding additional lines manually. Please feel free to continue working on the quote and when the import is complete, the imported lines will be added to any currently existing lines.
As for rearranging the order of quote lines, you can still do this by clicking and dragging the line number up/down:
Rearranging does not work properly. I’m using the latest version of Chrome (131.0.6778.265) and have removed cookies and cache already.
As I had described earlier, I am able to drag the items up or down in the table, but it does not change the line # shown. So if you navigate away (e.g. to generate a pdf), it reverts back to the same ordering.
That’s great news re smaller imports not being backgrounded - we look forward to that coming back. Re the job number in the email, it’s not really that helpful as there is no reference to that job number anywhere other than when the notification we receive when it first pops up on the quote import. Unless there is a look up feature/search option I’m not aware of using that Job No? It’s really the quote number that we need in the email. Currently we have to keep refreshing the quote list to see when our quotes are ready.
I do appreciate your help with this, thank you.
You are correct, the line number shown does not change. In fact the line number will automatically update to put the lines in order from top to bottom. However, you should still be able to rearrange the lines and see this reflected in the pdf. I’ve set up a test case to illustrate.
I’ve generated a quote with two lines: PRT1 and PRT2. First I have PRT1 on line #1 and PRT2 on line #2:
Now I used dragged the lines to rearrange the order so that PRT2 is listed on line #1 and PRT1 is listed on line #2 (the line #'s automatically update to reflect the drag/drop):
Sorry if I wasn’t clear. For me, the # that was associated with the part stays the same. So it doesn’t look like what you have shown here. e.g. if I drag, say #5 to the top, it still says #5 when it is at the top of the list. It isn’t changing to #1. Then when I go to the pdf, it prints it 5th down in the list. You can try it on one of my quotes if you’d like, see this. We have Cetec release v4.17.150.
I apologize for the misunderstanding. Thank you for this clarification, and thank you for providing that quote. I see the behavior you are referring to. I am working to reproduce this behavior and will coordinate with our Engineering team on this. I will let you know as soon as I have an update.
We have added the job number as well as the object type (e.g. “quoteline”) to all customer’s data import confirmation emails. This should hopefully be in your environments now. Please let us know if you continue to experience issues with the quote line data import tool.
The last emails we received did not have the job number on them, but now the quotes are importing straight away so we are not receiving emails as there is no need. Thanks for reverting back to the immediate import, it’s so much more streamlined for us to work like that. thanks
@cetecerp30 Thanks for looking into this. I’m confirming that the problem with quote lines reordering not persisting is still there with cetec release v4.17.182 and on the latest versions of multiple browsers (chrome, firefox).
