Can private images be used for labor plan instructions? It does not really make sense for images to be available to the public for work instructions. Is this feature in the works? If it already exists, how can it be enabled?
Also what is the difference between instructions in the labor plan and ‘work instructions’ in the part revision?
Basically Work Instructions in Associated to a Part+Revision are templates used when a Work Order is created. These instructions are “inherited” to the Work Order’s Labor Plan:
1. Work Instructions in the Part Revision
Location: Maintained under the Part Revision.
Purpose:
These are standardized, version-controlled instructions associated with a specific revision of a part.
They define how a part should be built, inspected, or handled regardless of a specific work order.
Intended to ensure consistency and compliance across production runs.
Can include assembly steps, quality checks, diagrams, safety notes, etc.
Usage:
Pulled automatically into work orders that use that revision.
Acts as a template or baseline for production instructions.
Useful for engineering and quality assurance to maintain documentation at the revision level.
2.Instructions in the Labor Plan (Work Order)
Location: Defined per Work Order > Labor Plan > Specific Step.
Purpose:
These are specific to a particular work order or build.
Tailored instructions for each labor step/station in the routing of that job.
Can override or supplement the part revision instructions for that job.
Often include job-specific changes, clarifications, or special handling instructions not applicable to every build.
Usage:
Used by production floor staff during actual job execution.
May reflect temporary deviations, customer-specific requirements, or custom configurations.
@Kris if you use the new version of the part revision labor plan then you’ll be able to paste images from your clipboard into the instructions and they will remain.
