R&D Order feature

Dear Cetec Team,

While dealing with an order I saw there is an option to assign a line as “R & D”. I was trying to research the meaning of this feature and I only found this general blog post:

Feature of the Week: Process R&D Orders (cetecerp.com)

Could you please help me understand by elaborating on the use case scenario for the feature? Would all associated costs with an R&D order not appear in the ledgers, or would they be separate? Could I process an R&D order to test that all steps (such as the labor plan) show up properly within the system?

Thanks in advance.

@MarianoPC

Apologies for the delay on this. I escalated this internally and will get back to you ASAP with an update.

Thanks,

@MarianoPC

Typically, R&D is specifically used to track labor.

It’s just a work order, that allows you to capture time (labor) and material cost, and provide reporting.

You should use R&D to track labor and material cost specifically to R&D.

The ledger doesn’t change with R&D so it would just be a flag for reporting.

If you want to test a work order to make sure everything shows up correctly, then you can just delete the order after they enter it.

Please let us know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
