Storage Locations.

Hello from Uk, I am new to using CETEC erp, I have Used SAP and Sage X3 in the past mainly, I am trying to get my head around the storage locations setup. I am struggling to grasp the factory structure, this might be our set up not reflecting reality. I want to understand better the Warehouses and put away locations. Is it possible to restrict stock being booked into locations that do not exist, or to stop people booking to a location that they have spelled wrong?

is there a diagram anywhere that shows how the Site → WorkCentre’s/Warehouses –> Bins are connected.

I hope this makes sense, I’m sure it is really simple and i am just missing something, I can find the (Lname)location in data maintenance, and the put away locations. But none of the put away locations we have set up in the table match the names we have for our storage locations (bins).

I have found some comments about recommended naming of Bins on here, but nothing in the videos, is there one you can point me to?

thanks so much.

John Peate.

Hi john,
As far as I know there is no way to get a view of your BIN’s in the “factory”.
The closest to what you are looking for is list by bin under Parts->list-> list by bin.
But that will just give you your inventory per BIN.

The best way to stop someone from puting away inventory to an incorrect bin is to have your entire warehouse barcoded.

So that when you move gods you do it by scanning the receipt code on the form of a barcode and then you scan the barcode with the bin name. That action will put away the product into the scanned bin.
Note that this might require that you make some changes to the [Part Label (Receipt)] under custom document list to make this work.
I can be of assistance if this is something that interests you.

Note that you have to code into the bin barcode the value you want it to have prefixed by BIN.
e.g. “BINSHELF1”.

That will ofcourse not prevent someone from putting it in the wrong bin but at least it will be a physical action that has to be performed to put it in the wrong bin.

As far as I know there is no way to block putting away into wrong bin from happening programmatically.
