Today, we were reviewing the UDI label document in workorder. It seems not to be working for us. Our customers want following information in UDI Barcode: GTIN, Lot, Expiration. The format for UDI is as following:
(01)GTIN(10)Lot Number(17)Expiration
Acceptable format for expiration is YYMMDD.
In OEM production, every customer provides their GTIN for every sku. This is similar to cross part.
Two approved UDI systems for medical devices are GS1 UDI system and HIBCC UDI system. Both work differently. Some of our customers are using GS1 and some are using HIBCC.
Our engineers might be able to develop this as a custom doc. The current rate for our engineers is $315/hr and I can get an estimate for how long this will take if we are able to implement.
If so, is adding the below format all that is needed?
(01)GTIN(10)Lot Number(17)Expiration Acceptable format for expiration is YYMMDD
I wanted to confirm as you mentioned the two different systems, GS1 UDI and HIBCC UDI, and I wasn’t sure if anything else might be involved other than the above format.
