using "Types" to auto-populate commission % or $

I’m trying to understand what the “type” field does for commissions? I feel like it’s missing a field such as “Commissions” in which if you select a Type, (see screenshot), the Commission field would automatically populate based on the selection? I don’t understand why it’s required to manually enter the commission data…what am i missing or not understanding…

in the below image, i would expect that if we select the commission vendor, then select the “Type” , then it would be nice if the commission field auto-populated based on a commission rate that would be defined…in the 2nd image below, i placed the commission percent in the description field as an example…
